Connecting Reference Monitors (Home Studio)?

I am a musician with a home recording set-up. Recently, I have just bought my first pair of reference monitors – Event ALP5s. I am a novice in this stuff and I am not familiar with electrical terminology. So, (the manual is very brief and not user anyway) almost useless for me. I just want to know how these things connect. There are three inputs on the back of each monitor. Two of them are "balanced" Inputs, and one of them appears as the input for a microphone cables are designed, and the other an instrument cable. Then there's another entrance as an "unbalanced" input, and it looks basically like a headphone input (it is really small). Where can I find plug-in, and what kind of cable should I use?
